Slip Cast
Ceramic Money Box
When designing the form, I had to consider the limitations of the slip casting process while trying to maintain elements of elegance and movement. Throughout my ideation phase, I was drawn to different symmetrical forms. I found that most of my patterns were able to introduce movement through the repetition of forms and shapes.
I was attracted to this design as the side indentations created unique shadows and lighting. Due to the tapered body, when viewed from the top, the object took on an almost floral motif, adding to the depth of the design. Once I had finalised the form, I was able to easily create a CAD model, which would then be 3D printed and used to create the plaster mould parts.
